Russian missile strikes in Kharkiv, Ukraine, reportedly destroyed a five-storey dwelling, killing at least two people and injuring 25, according to Ukrainian officials. Rescue teams searched for survivors in the rubble. Russia's Defence Ministry denied the attack, suggesting the blast was caused by Ukrainian ammunition detonation. Moscow also claimed the reports aimed to distract from a New Year's Eve strike on a hotel in Russian-held Kherson, which it blamed on Ukraine.
