West Bengal has commenced hearings for its Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls, with 3,234 centers established across the state. Approximately 32 lakh 'unmapped' voters, unable to link to the 2002 electoral roll, are being called for verification in the first phase. Voters can submit 12 recognized documents, though Aadhaar is not accepted alone. Over 58 lakh voters were previously removed from draft rolls. The process, overseen by micro-observers, aims for transparency and accuracy ahead of upcoming elections, though the ruling TMC has raised bias allegations.
