The Congress welcomed the decision, calling it a 'flicker of hope' and demanding the resignation of Union Environment Minister Bhupender Yadav, alleging the redefinition aimed to open the hills to mining and real estate. Yadav, however, welcomed the stay and the formation of a new committee, stating a complete ban on mining remains in effect.
