
A local leader of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP), Shamsuzzaman Dablu, died shortly after being detained by the army and police. His family and party allege he was tortured in custody, calling it a conspiracy and murder. However, the army denies torture, stating Dablu fell ill and died of a stroke during interrogation. Authorities also reported recovering a pistol and ammunition from him. His death has triggered protests and blockades by BNP activists.
