Despite a stampede during Mahakumbh that resulted in 37 deaths, religious tourism remained robust. This growth is linked to the state government's focus on developing religious sites since 2017, including the Ram temple construction in Ayodhya, which has boosted the region's spiritual and tourist appeal.
