NIA Arrests Absconding Accused in 2021 CPI (Maoist) Revival Conspiracy Case

The National Investigation Agency (NIA) arrested Chandan Kumar, an absconding accused in a 2021 case involving a conspiracy to revive the banned CPI (Maoist) in the Magadh zone of Bihar and Jharkhand. Kumar, a resident of Jehanabad, Bihar, was involved in fundraising, recruiting former cadres, and facilitating terrorist activities. The case, registered in December 2021, includes other accused members charged with raising funds through extortion, procuring arms, and training cadres in IED fabrication. A special court had declared Kumar a proclaimed offender and issued a non-bailable warrant in October 2023.
