India-Nepal Border Closed March 2-5 Ahead of Nepal General Elections

The India-Nepal border along the Banke district will be closed from midnight of March 2 to midnight of March 5 to facilitate Nepal's general elections on March 5. This closure, mandated by Nepal's Ministry of Home Affairs, aims to ensure a free and credible election process. Import and export activities will be suspended, except for essential medicines and critical goods. Movement across the border will be restricted with thorough identity checks, allowing exceptions for Nepali voters residing in India, seriously ill patients, and essential commodities under security supervision.
