Mumbai BMC Extends Tender, May Use Own Staff for Pre-Monsoon Desilting Amid Contractor Shortage

Mumbai's Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) faces delays in pre-monsoon desilting of drains and the Mithi River due to limited contractor interest. To address this, the BMC has extended tender deadlines and relaxed eligibility criteria, allowing contractors without prior experience to apply. If no bidders come forward, the BMC may use its own staff and machinery. Additionally, digital dashboards are planned to enhance transparency by displaying real-time desilting progress and related data online.
