NIA Court Remands Seven Foreigners in Custody Over Alleged Links to Ethnic War Groups

A Special NIA Court at Patiala House remanded six Ukrainians and one US citizen to 11 days of NIA custody until March 27. The accused were arrested from Delhi, Lucknow, and Kolkata. The NIA alleges they entered Mizoram, a protected area, then Myanmar, where they contacted and trained ethnic war groups linked to insurgents in India. They are also accused of bringing a large consignment of drones from Europe via India. Defense lawyers opposed the custodial remand application during a closed hearing.
