The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has remanded seven foreign nationals—six Ukrainians and one US citizen—in custody for 11 days, alleging they entered Mizoram without permits, crossed into Myanmar, and contacted ethnic groups hostile to India. The NIA claims they were trained in Myanmar, involved in training insurgents, and imported drones from Europe via India. The accused were arrested at airports in Delhi, Lucknow, and Kolkata. Their lawyers contest the arrests, citing legal concerns and alleging violations of international protocols.
