The Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) will conduct the second edition of its 25-day Vande Mataram Coastal Cyclothon from January 28 to February 22, covering approximately 6,500 km along India's eastern and western coastlines. The event aims to raise maritime security awareness, engage coastal communities, and promote national unity. Two teams of 130 personnel, including 65 women, will start from Gujarat and West Bengal, converging in Kerala. The government plans to launch a 'Coastal Vibrant Villages' programme to develop and secure coastal areas, with CISF adopting 52 villages. The CISF is also expanding its role to secure all seaports under a hybrid security model, incorporating new technologies like anti-drone systems to address evolving threats such as smuggling and infiltration.
