
Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann reported that over 85,000 drug smugglers have been arrested in the state in the last three and a half years, with 63,053 cases registered since 2022. He highlighted an 88% conviction rate under the NDPS Act and the apprehension of 916 gangsters in 2025. Mann emphasized a multi-pronged strategy involving enforcement, de-addiction, and prevention, alongside financial investigations that led to the freezing of properties worth Rs 2,730 crore. Significant drug quantities, including heroin, opium, and cocaine, were also recovered.
