Goa's Chief Minister Pramod Sawant announced the state's proposed third district will be named Kushavati, after the ancient river flowing through its four talukas. This decision aims to reflect Goa's historical, cultural, and ecological heritage. The new district, formed from Dharbandora, Quepem, Sanguem, and Canacona, will have its headquarters in Quepem. The Usgalimal rock engravings, located along the Kushavati river, are also noted for their historical significance.
