
The Delhi government is considering reviving shared taxi rides, discontinued during the COVID-19 pandemic, to combat air pollution and reduce vehicular congestion. Chief Minister Rekha Gupta stated the aim is to allow fewer vehicles to transport more passengers affordably and conveniently. Discussions are planned with ride-hailing companies like Ola and Uber to prioritize shared mobility, increase women drivers, and integrate electric vehicles. The government is also enhancing vehicle fitness testing infrastructure to ensure compliance and reduce polluting vehicles on city roads.
