A Kuki-Zo group in Manipur, KANAM, has written to the US Embassy and UN bodies, accusing the National Green Tribunal (NGT) of "institutional violence" and "lethal indifference." This follows an NGT order on December 23, 2025, halting construction of an unauthorized road, locally known as the 'German Road' or 'Tiger Road,' reportedly named after Kuki militants. KANAM claims the ban severs vital connectivity to Kuki-Zo hill areas, especially with national highways inaccessible due to ethnic conflict and lawlessness.
