Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu unveiled a 58-foot bronze statue of freedom fighter Potti Sriramulu at Shakhamuru Park in Amaravati on March 16, marking Sriramulu's 125th birth anniversary. The statue commemorates his 58-day fast demanding a separate Telugu state, which led to Andhra State's formation. The memorial project, costing around Rs 150 crore on 6.8 acres, will include a museum, auditorium, and skill development centre in its second phase. Naidu also paid tributes to Sriramulu and participated in an Iftar dinner in Vijayawada.
