Model Code of Conduct Enforced Ahead of Tamil Nadu 2026 Assembly Elections

Following the announcement of the 2026 Tamil Nadu Assembly election schedule, the Model Code of Conduct (MCC) came into effect across the state on March 15. Authorities deployed over 4,200 teams, including flying squads and static surveillance teams, to monitor cash movement, campaign activities, and MCC violations. Vehicles and public spaces were inspected, with significant cash seizures reported in districts like Madurai, Perambalur, and Vellore. Election officials also established control rooms and toll-free numbers for public complaints, while polling preparations, including webcasting and personnel deployment, are underway for the April 23 election.
