India Advances Critical Minerals Strategy with New Tailings Recovery Policy

India is enhancing its approach to critical minerals amid global efforts to reduce reliance on China. While India recently joined international initiatives like Pax Silica and G7 talks, domestic challenges persist, including limited geological exploration, regulatory hurdles, and low private investment. The Mines Ministry has introduced a new policy to recover critical minerals from mine tailings and waste, promoting inter-ministerial coordination to assess and utilize secondary mineral sources, aiming to strengthen India's mineral supply chain resilience.
