India's Ministry of Defence has signed contracts totaling Rs 4,666 crore for military modernization. These include over 4.25 lakh Close Quarter Battle (CQB) carbines for the Army and Navy from Bharat Forge Ltd and PLR Systems Pvt Ltd, valued at Rs 2,770 crore. Additionally, a Rs 1,896 crore deal was made with Italy's WASS Submarine Systems for 48 heavyweight torpedoes for the Navy's Kalvari-class submarines. These acquisitions aim to enhance soldier lethality and naval combat capabilities, aligning with the 'Aatmanirbhar Bharat' initiative.
