Direct Mangaluru-Rameswaram Train Service to Launch on March 1, 2024

A new direct weekly train service connecting Mangaluru Central on the Malabar Coast to Rameswaram in Tamil Nadu will begin on March 1, 2024. Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to inaugurate the Mangaluru-Rameswaram Express in Madurai. The route includes stops at Palakkad, Madurai, Manamadurai, and Palani. The service was delayed due to the decommissioning and redevelopment of the Pamban Bridge and Rameswaram station, with the new bridge reopening in April 2023.
