India's stitched sailing vessel, INSV Kaundinya, has embarked on a historic voyage from Porbandar to Muscat, Oman. The 65-foot vessel retraces ancient maritime routes, celebrating India's seafaring heritage and traditional shipbuilding techniques. Inspired by 5th-century Ajanta Caves murals, the ship uses stitched-plank construction with natural fibers instead of metal nails. The expedition was flagged off by Vice Admiral Krishna Swaminathan and the Omani Ambassador to India, highlighting a blend of history, craftsmanship, and naval innovation.
