Consumer Court Orders Indian Railways to Compensate Passengers Denied Confirmed Seats
A consumer court in Bihar held Indian Railways liable for failing to provide confirmed reserved berths to four passengers on the LTT Patna Express, who were forced to stand throughout their journey. The court ordered the railways to pay Rs 20,000 compensation, refund the ticket amount with 8% annual interest, and cover litigation costs. The bench noted the passengers suffered mental, physical, and economic harassment due to the service deficiency.
