The Supreme Court will hear the Telangana government's petition on January 5 challenging the proposed Polavaram-Banakacharla link project. Telangana alleges this project by Andhra Pradesh aims to divert 200 tmc of Godavari River water to the Krishna basin. Telangana's irrigation minister stated the Union ministry of Jal Shakti has withheld permission for the project and preparation of its Detailed Project Report (DPR) without Central Water Commission approval.
