The mother of a nine-year-old girl killed in a post-poll bomb blast in Nadia's Kaliganj has attempted suicide, reportedly due to ongoing fear and perceived delays in justice. The child died in June during Trinamul Congress victory celebrations. While police have arrested 10 individuals, the victim's family claims 14 accused remain at large and they feel threatened. The mother, who has been battling depression, is in stable condition after consuming sleeping pills. The family is seeking a CBI probe into the incident.
