The Social Democratic Party of India (SDPI) has blamed the Left Democratic Front (LDF) and the United Democratic Front (UDF) for the Bharatiya Janata Party's (BJP) continued rule in the Palakkad municipality. An SDPI leader stated that the BJP secured power despite not holding a majority due to the "hypocritical stances" and "political duplicity" of the LDF and UDF, who allegedly could have supported an Independent candidate to prevent the BJP's victory.
