The Indian government reported that about 69 lakh central government pensioners remain under the Old Pension Scheme (OPS), while nearly 50,000 are covered by the National Pension System (NPS), which applies to employees joining after January 1, 2004. Minister of State for Finance Pankaj Chaudhary stated no delays in NPS pension payments have been reported. The government noted that restoring OPS is a state decision, with concerns about financial burdens highlighted by the Comptroller and Auditor General.
