Madhya Pradesh Plans to Eliminate Stray Cattle on Roads Within Two Years

In Madhya Pradesh, Animal Husbandry Minister Lakhan Patel assured the state assembly that no stray cattle will roam streets within two years through the construction of self-reliant cow shelters under the Swamlambi Gaushala scheme. Approximately 10 lakh stray cattle currently cause traffic disruptions, crop damage, and accidents. The government has moved around 4.8 lakh cattle to 3,040 shelters and plans modern facilities housing thousands of cattle. Opposition members raised concerns about effectiveness and suggested alternative solutions, while noting past challenges with gaushala management.
