Senior BJP leader Suvendu Adhikari urged the people of Bangladesh to recreate a "1971-type situation" to protect democracy and minorities, particularly Hindus. He cited recent incidents, including the lynching of a Hindu worker, and suggested that "right-thinking citizens" should work to defeat "Jamaati elements" and restore Bengali heritage. Adhikari stated he was speaking as an Indian citizen, not a BJP spokesperson, and noted the Indian government is monitoring the situation. A planned rally was called off after an invitation for talks.
