
The Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) has launched a drain desilting drive to prevent waterlogging during the monsoon season. Since January, over 25,000 metric tonnes of silt have been removed from more than 13,600 drains, prioritizing larger drains for smooth rainwater flow. The MCD is also tendering comprehensive cleaning of major drains and planning special measures, including pump deployment at vulnerable sites. The mayor urged residents to avoid dumping garbage into drains to maintain their effectiveness, highlighting coordination with the Delhi government.
