Nepal's Ex-PM Deuba Challenges Election Commission's Recognition of New Nepali Congress Faction

Former Nepalese Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba has filed a writ petition at the Supreme Court challenging the Election Commission's recognition of the Gagan Thapa-led faction of the Nepali Congress. The Deuba faction, represented by leaders including acting president Purna Khadka, contends that the EC's endorsement of Thapa, elected during the party's Special General Convention in January, undermines the party's stature. The writ names the Election Commission, Gagan Thapa, and Vice President Bishwo Prakash Sharma as defendants.
