
The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) conducted surveillance, inspections, and random sampling of over 5.18 lakh food samples from 2022-23 to 2024-25, resulting in 88,192 penalties, 3,614 convictions, and 1,161 license cancellations. Risk-based inspections totaled 56,259, focusing on high-risk food categories. FSSAI supports states and UTs with financial and technical assistance, including deploying 305 Mobile Food Testing Laboratories across 35 regions to detect adulteration and strengthen food safety compliance.
