Independent MLA E.U. Jaffer has denied allegations of accepting ₹50 lakh to cross-vote for the Left Democratic Front in a block panchayat election, following the release of an audio clip. Jaffer claims the vote was a mistake made under mental pressure and denies any bribery or demand for money. He stated he has always opposed the CPI(M) and would cooperate with the ongoing vigilance inquiry, including a lie-detection test if necessary.
