Jadavpur University has formed a three-member committee to investigate an incident during an English semester exam where an invigilator reportedly asked a hijab-wearing student to help check a classmate for wireless headphones. The committee, including academics and the chancellor's nominee, is tasked with submitting a report within 30 days. While student groups protested the action as Islamophobic, faculty members denied this, citing increased vigilance due to cheating attempts. The state government has also taken a strong view of the matter.
