Union minister Sukanta Majumdar has demanded an FIR and arrest of former West Bengal Chief Secretary Manoj Pant for attending a Supreme Court-mandated meeting on the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) process, alleging his presence was unauthorized. The state government and officials counter that Pant attended with approval from the current Chief Secretary and the Calcutta High Court Chief Justice, acting in his capacity as personal secretary to Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee. The Supreme Court has issued directions to expedite the SIR process in West Bengal.
