AIUDF chief Badruddin Ajmal accused Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma and the Congress of a secret deal regarding eviction drives, particularly in minority-dominated areas. Ajmal alleged the drives, which he claims disproportionately affect minority Muslims and the economically weaker sections, are being conducted to politically benefit the Congress in upcoming elections. He urged the government to halt evictions during winter and exam periods, citing notices issued to hundreds of families in Hailakandi and Nagaon districts. The Congress has not yet responded to these allegations.
