In an unusual turn of events ahead of Maharashtra's municipal elections, Shiv Sena (Eknath Shinde faction) leader Yogesh Gonnade received his nomination papers at his mother's crematorium. Party officials delivered the AB form just before the 3 pm deadline, allowing Gonnade to contest from Nagpur Municipal Corporation's Ward No. 5. Gonnade expressed being emotional due to his mother's death and the unexpected candidacy. His daughter, Kritika, is also contesting from Ward No. 8.
