India has approved the Dulhasti-II hydroelectric project on the Chenab River in Jammu and Kashmir, a decision that has drawn sharp criticism from Pakistan. The 260 MW project, an extension of an existing facility, is estimated to cost over Rs 3,200 crore. Pakistan accuses India of violating international agreements and "weaponizing water," while India's move follows the suspension of the Indus Waters Treaty. The project involves diverting water from the Stage-I power station to a new underground powerhouse.
