Debate Intensifies Over VB-G RAM G Act Replacing MGNREGA Amid Conflicting Claims

Rural Development Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan defended the Viksit Bharat Guarantee for Rozgar and Ajeevika Mission (Gramin) (VB-G RAM G) Act, asserting it strengthens the right to work by guaranteeing 125 days of employment and empowering gram panchayats to plan projects. He accused Congress leaders Mallikarjun Kharge and Rahul Gandhi of spreading misinformation, including using AI-generated videos, and misleading the public through a nationwide campaign demanding the repeal of the Act. Congress contends the new law dilutes MGNREGA's provisions, risks job losses for over 13 crore labourers, and undermines wage guarantees and local governance roles.
