
Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited Tamil Nadu and Puducherry on March 1-2, inaugurating and laying foundation stones for development projects worth over Rs 7,100 crore. In Madurai, he inaugurated infrastructure projects exceeding Rs 4,400 crore, including eight redeveloped railway stations, highway expansions, and new FM transmitters. In Puducherry, projects worth over Rs 2,700 crore were launched, focusing on business, education, spirituality, and tourism. Modi also offered prayers at the Thirupparankundram Murugan Temple, marking his first visit there. The visit coincides with political campaigning ahead of state elections, with BJP emphasizing development and cultural heritage.
