Maharashtra Forest Minister Ganesh Naik stated that the Mukhyamantri Ladki Bahin Yojana, which provides Rs 1,500 monthly to eligible women, will continue despite causing financial strain and perceived injustice to other government departments. The scheme is credited with contributing to the Mahayuti alliance's 2024 election victory. Naik also proposed raising a Rs 6,000 crore loan against Rs 12,000 crore worth of teak plantations to fund forest department infrastructure, salaries, and development projects, pending cabinet approval.
