CPI(M)-Led Long March in Palghar Demands Land Rights and Project Cancellations

Thousands of tribals, farmers, and laborers led by the Communist Party of India (Marxist) conducted a long march from Charoti to the Palghar Collectorate, demanding full implementation of the Forest Rights Act, land ownership rights, restoration of MGNREGA, repeal of new labour codes, and cancellation of proposed port and infrastructure projects. Protesters warned of escalating actions if demands are unmet, emphasizing concerns over displacement, water scarcity, and livelihood impacts from mega-projects. The administration has engaged with the delegation, but protesters remain firm on indefinite sit-in until assurances are provided.
