Punjab and Haryana HC to Hear Plea on Former MLA's Occupation of Chandigarh Govt House

The Punjab and Haryana High Court scheduled a hearing on April 27 regarding a plea alleging that former MLA Tej Parkash Singh, son of late Punjab Chief Minister Beant Singh, continues to occupy a government residence in Chandigarh's Sector 5 despite the cancellation of its allotment in May 2020. The cancellation followed a Supreme Court ruling barring former officials from retaining government houses. The plea, filed in a pending public interest litigation, seeks intervention and a response from the Chandigarh administration, noting that eviction proceedings initiated in March 2025 remain incomplete.
