Delhi Government Doubles Parking Charges During Severe Air Pollution Stages

The Delhi government has decided to double parking charges at authorized sites during GRAP Stage III and IV, corresponding to severe air pollution levels, to discourage private vehicle use. This measure excludes Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) parking areas. The decision aligns with a National Green Tribunal order and is based on studies highlighting vehicles' significant contribution to air pollutants and greenhouse gas emissions in Delhi, which has over 82 lakh registered vehicles.
