West Bengal opposition leader Suvendu Adhikari filed a Rs 100 crore defamation suit against Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, accusing her of making unsubstantiated allegations linking him to an alleged coal scam. Adhikari initiated legal action after Banerjee did not respond to a defamation notice demanding proof within 72 hours. He stated that any damages awarded would be donated to charity and urged Banerjee to consult her legal team promptly. Banerjee had publicly implicated Adhikari and Union Home Minister Amit Shah in the scam but did not present evidence.
