The Supreme Court has put its November 20 order, which accepted a 100-meter elevation definition for the Aravalli hills, in abeyance. This decision, prompted by environmentalist and opposition concerns about potential mining and real estate exploitation, aims to prevent ecological damage. A new high-powered expert committee will be formed to re-examine the definition and its environmental impact. While the opposition welcomed the stay, they also called for the Environment Minister's resignation, accusing him of hypocrisy.
