
Indian Air Force Group Captain Shubhanshu Shukla, the second Indian astronaut and first to visit the International Space Station in 2025, highlighted sustainable practices used in space, such as solar power reliance and resource reuse, as lessons for North Eastern states like Meghalaya. Speaking at the 23rd National Space Science Symposium at NESAC, he praised Meghalaya's Chief Minister's Solar Mission, which promotes off-grid solar systems with subsidies to improve electricity access in remote areas, including schools, supporting education and digital learning.
