
Fifty-two Maoist cadres, including 21 women and several carrying bounties totaling over Rs 1.41 crore, surrendered in Chhattisgarh's Bijapur district under the state government's 'Poona Margem' rehabilitation initiative. The group included members from key Maoist committees active in Dandakaranya, Andhra-Odisha border, and Maharashtra areas. This follows recent surrenders in Sukma and Dantewada, contributing to over 1,500 Maoists laying down arms in 2025. The surrendered cadres will receive immediate financial assistance and rehabilitation support as per government policy. The central government aims to eliminate Naxalism by March 31, 2026.
