Scrutiny of nomination papers for upcoming Thane Municipal Corporation and Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) elections has led to the rejection of numerous candidates across various parties. Opposition leaders in Thane allege bias by election officials, claiming nomination papers of their candidates were unfairly rejected while those of ruling party candidates were accepted despite discrepancies. In Mumbai, officials cite incomplete documents, errors, and failure to submit mandatory certificates as reasons for rejections affecting parties like Congress, BJP, AAP, and NCP (SP). Independent candidates also saw a high number of rejections in the BMC polls.
