CIC Criticizes Venkateswara College Over RTI Responses on Recruitment Allegations

The Central Information Commission (CIC) criticized Venkateswara College, Delhi University, for providing inadequate and delayed responses to RTI queries regarding alleged favouritism and corrupt recruitment practices. The appellant claimed ineligible candidates were appointed and staff removals followed a biased policy favoring candidates from a particular state. The college denied corruption, asserting adherence to university norms. The CIC found the college's refusal to answer certain questions baseless and emphasized that recruitment information should be proactively disclosed under the RTI Act.
