India is set to discuss a proposed Rs 3.25 lakh crore deal to acquire 114 Rafale fighter jets from France in a Defence Ministry meeting this week. The contract includes 12-18 jets in fly-away condition, with the remainder to be manufactured in India featuring around 30% indigenous content. India seeks integration of domestic weapons systems, while source codes remain with France. This deal, if approved, would be India’s largest defence procurement, increasing its Rafale fleet to 176 jets amid offers from the US and Russia for fifth-generation fighters.
